Morocco and Ghana to Prove Just How Lose the AFCON is With a Draw

Morocco and Ghana will meet in one of the tightest groups of them all in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations as one of the competition’s favourites meets with one of the potential underdogs for the tournament this Sunday.

Also in Group C is Gabon and Comoros who in reality, should not cause much of a problem for either Ghana or Morocco, however, they could string together some positive results themselves and force a bit of an issue, especially with Gabon boasting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Nevertheless, these two are the two to watch in this group and it’s expected that should one of them win here, they will likely end up topping the group at the end with Morocco just about being the favourites to do so here.

The Atlas Lions are heading into the competition as the team to watch in the eyes of many, but they do head to Cameroon without star player and arguably the best Moroccan around, Hakim Ziyech.

The Chelsea star’s continued bad relationship with the national team has forced his absence here and focus now goes elsewhere.

They are also in tremendous form, having not lost a single game in 2021 in 90 minutes, which also included a 1-0 victory over Ghana back in June in a friendly.

They would lose to Algeria in December on penalties, but in 90 minutes they remain unbeaten and did indeed only concede three goals in the entirety of 2021, putting them as arguably the most in-form side from all of Africa.

Achraf Hakimi is probably the biggest name on the list for them these days and he has enjoyed a fantastic season with Paris Saint-Germain, as he remains one of the highest-scoring defenders in Europe. Wolves star, Romain Saiss, is the club captain and will be one of the defenders to watch this tournament.

However, Sofiane Boufal and Youssef En-Nesyri are the stars to watch here and they are set to put together one of the most threatening sides at the AFCON this year, with En-Nesyri netting three league goals in seven La Liga appearances for Sevilla so far.

Ghana are far from the threat they once were and they recently lost 3-0 to Algeria in a warm up game, but the likes of Thomas Partey, Daniel Amartey, Jordan Ayew and Andrew Ayew will be relied on heavily and have the capabilities to impress.

Given how they are both competing for top spot, Forebet expects a game of under 2.5 goals and a tight draw here.
