Marseille to take the spoils at Bordeaux
Girondins Bordeaux vs Olympique Marseille - 07/01/2022
5424
Friday night brings us action from the French top flight and the clash between lowly Bordeaux and high-flying Marseille at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique with both teams keen to grab the all-important three points here.
Although Bordeaux grabbed a welcome 2-1 win away from home at Troyes recently, the hosts returned to type afterwards as they suffered a 3-2 loss on home soil at their Stade Matmut-Atlantique to Lille which has also resulted in Bordeaux dropping down to 17th place and hovering just above the relegation play-off spot.
It’s just one win from their previous seven games for Bordeaux and just two victories in their last 13 matches so the hosts look to have their work cut out on Friday night despite possessing supposed home advantage.
Results at home have also been poor where Bordeaux have been concerned as the hosts have managed just one win from their 10 games so far this season and they also have a number of absentees to deal with as well.
Defender Gregersen, midfielder Sissokho and forward Oudin are all suffering illness and are expected to miss out.
Marseille head into this Friday night’s Ligue 1 encounter in positive spirits as the visitors have suffered just the one defeat out of their last 10 matches overall in the French top flight while also picking up five wins in the process, a run which has helped lift Marseille up into 3rd spot.
The visitors have lost just three games overall so far this season, two of which were dealt out to them on home turf at their Stade Orange Vélodrome, while results on the road have been pretty solid to date this term.
The bigger picture shows that Marseille have lost just three of their last 20 matches in Ligue 1 while also losing just once in their last nine games on their travels in the domestic top flight.
That loss was at Lille but three wins on the trot since then at Clermont, Nantes and Strasbourg should set Marseille up for further success here on Friday night as the visitors look to overhaul Nice into 2nd spot behind the league leaders, PSG.
Marseille are unbeaten in their last six meetings against Bordeaux and have only one player missing - forward, Dieng, is suspended.
Forebet predicts that Marseille will dispatch Bordeaux with a straight win.
