Blackpool to Edge Past Hull City and Get Nearer the Top Half With a Win
4467

Blackpool and Hull City will scrap it out in the Championship this Saturday for what is a vital must-win mid-table clash for either side if they are to make a charge towards the top end in 2022 as the Tigers travel to Bloomfield Road.

It has been a wild season in the second tier of English football, with the likes of Blackburn Rovers making a title charge and Stoke City battling it out in the play-offs spots in unexpected fashion.

These two, however, are sitting relatively close to where they were predicted to be and it’s all about getting points on the board as soon as possible now.

The Seasiders are sitting in 13th place, and although a bit higher than where they were expected to be in terms of fighting relegation, they are still nine points adrift of the drop zone and could well be sucked back into a relegation fight within a few games if other results go against them.

This fear is only echoed further when Blackpool fans remember they have conceded 32 goals, which is the most inside the top 13 and only Bristol City, Peterborough and Barnsley have let in more from the 24-man league.

At the same time, the club have scored just 26 goals from 25 games so far this campaign, which again, is one of the lowest inside the top 13, as Millwall are the only side in the division that sit with fewer.

Nevertheless, Blackpool remain the same amount of points (9) as they do from the bottom three on the play-offs, and a win here puts them in a great spot in early 2022.

Grant McCann’s men will need to string together a bunch of wins if they are to think about a play-off charge, however, given how the club have won only eight of their 25 games and lost 11 - only Hull and Cardiff City have lost more from clubs sitting outside of the bottom three.

Speaking of Hull, they certainly are fighting relegation this season as they sit only three points above the drop zone and they are one of the clubs that has been heavily favoured by Derby County’s dropped points this season, as if the Rams hadn’t had this issue, Hull City could well be in the relegation spots.

They are winless in their past three games as well, losing to Nottingham Forest last time out, following draws with Reading and Bristol City. They did, however, put together a three-game winning streak during November, which remains their best stint of the season so far.

Forebet predicts a win for Blackpool here in a game that sees over 2.5 goals.
