Draw specialists Brighton braced for another stalemate with Everton

Brighton & Hove Albion will be hoping to build on an impressive draw with Chelsea when they face Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Seagulls moved into the top half of the table thanks to their efforts at Stamford Bridge, meaning they are now just six points outside the top six.

Meanwhile, the Toffees find themselves fifteenth – five points behind Brighton – although they do have a game in hand.

Everton made an impressive start to the season, losing just one of their opening seven Premier League games while picking up four wins and two draws.

Since then, however, they have only managed to win one of their previous ten league matches – recording two draws and seven losses in the process.

The Toffees have had each of their last two games postponed, meaning they last played on 16 December.

It is worth noting that Everton held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge last time out. Still, there is no hiding from the fact that Rafa Benitez’s men are not in a good place right now.

As for Brighton, they head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a hard-fought draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Graham Potter’s men thoroughly deserved to come away with a point, too, after enjoying the lion’s share of possession and registering 18 shots – six of which were on target.

Although the Seagulls have won just one of their last 13 Premier League games, they have only suffered three defeats in that time.

Remarkably, Brighton have drawn nine of their last 13 league matches – underlining their inability to turn draws into wins.

Head-to-head: Everton and Brighton have faced each other nine times since the Seagulls returned to the Premier League back in 2017.

Brighton have only managed to win two of those nine meetings, registering two draws and five losses along the way.

Across the past four meetings between Everton and Brighton, both teams have scored on just once occasion.

Team news: Everton will be without injured trio Richarlison, Yerry Mina and Andros Townsend on Sunday. On a brighter note, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to return to action.

Brighton currently have Lewis Dunk and Jeremy Sarmiento sidelined through injury. Joel Veltman, Leandro Trossard and Shane Duffy are also doubts for Sunday’s clash.

Given that Brighton have recorded a league-high nine draws this season, Sunday’s clash looks sent to end all-square.

Forebet predicts that Everton and Brighton will play out a low-scoring draw at Goodison Park.
