Burgos to Edge Closer to the Top 6 With a Win Over SD Amorebieta
Burgos CF vs SD Amorebieta - 31/12/2021
4553
Burgos will look to keep tabs on the top six as they welcome SD Amorebieta to the Estadio Municipal El Plantio as the away side aim to get out of the bottom three as 10th meets 20th in the Segunda Division this Friday afternoon.
Sitting in 10th and just inside the top half, Burgos are sitting with eight wins and nine losses so far this campaign, and their four draws on top of this leave them on 28 points from 21 games so far in Spain's second tier.
However, it's their 21 goals scored and 21 goals conceded that just about sums up their topsy-turvy form so far this season..
The club are also coming off the back of a two-game losing streak as they painfully lost in the Copa del Rey to Real Zaragoza, who sit four places below them in the league, and it was indeed Burgos' chance to get something out of a tough first few months in the 2021/22 season.
They would also go on to lose to promotion-chasing Girona in the league just three days later in a 3-1 defeat as Guillermo Fernandez scored for Burgos.
They also saw seven shots on target in that game, as it was also the first match in seven that saw over 2.5 goals that they’ve competed in.
Previous to these two losses, however, the 10th-placed Segunda Division side were on a four-game winning streak as they impressively defeated Malaga 3-0, edged past Montijo in the Copa del Rey, squeezed past Real Sociedad B, and eased past Fuenlabrada in what was their best stint of form so far this season.
Burgos' two recent losses do put them nine points above the bottom three in the Segunda Division, however, and five off the top six.
Most importantly though, their recent winning streak rocketed them away from the drop zone and has now given them great hope of staying in the second tier of Spanish football.
As for Amorebieta, they sit with only three wins in the division and have conceded 31 goals in this campaign that has seen them lose eight times and score just 24 times.
This is a better goalscoring record than every club in the bottom half, except Mirandes, however, the club can't seem to go more than two games in a row without dropped points, hence their relegation fight.
It’s tough to see how Amorebieta gets anything out of this game, and Forebet predicts a Burgos win in a game that will see under 2.5 goals.
