Galatasaray and Antalyaspor set for low-scoring draw on Christmas Day

Just two points separate Galatasaray and Antalyaspor as the two sides prepare to face off in the Turkish Super Lig on Christmas Day.

Both teams find themselves languishing in the bottom half of the table, so they will both be eager to claim all three points on Sunday.

Galatasaray have recorded six wins, six draws and six losses this season – underlining their inconsistency.

They made a solid start to the campaign, winning six of their opening 11 games while suffering just three defeats along the way.

However, they head into Saturday’s clash on a seven-game winless streak in the Super Lig – having registered four draws and three losses since their last victory.

In the UEFA Europa League, Galatasaray secured three wins and three draws to finish three points clear at the top of Group E.

It goes without saying that Fatih Terim will be looking for his players to replicate their European form on the domestic stage.

Just like Galatasaray, Antalyaspor have won six of their 18 Super Lig matches this season. However, they have suffered eight losses – picking up four draws in the process.

Antalyaspor were held to a 1-1 draw by Kasimpasa in midweek, meaning they have only managed to win one of their previous four league outings.

They have also managed to win just two of their past six Super Lig encounters, suffering three defeats along the way.

It is worth pointing out that Antalyaspor have registered back-to-back league wins on just one occasion this season.

Head-to-head: Antalyaspor’s last victory over Galatasaray came all the way back in 2016. They have failed to beat Galatasaray in ten attempts since then.

Galatasaray have won five of their previous seven meetings with Antalyaspor, scoring over 2.5 goals on three occasions in that time.

It is also worth noting that Galatasaray have kept six clean sheets in their last seven matches against Antalyaspor.

Team news: Galatasaray currently have five players sidelined through injury – Sacha Boey, Mbaye Diagne, Christian Luyindama, Fernando Muslera and Arda Turan.

As for Antalyaspor, they will be without the injured trio of Ufuk Akyol, Harun Alpsoy and Enzo Crivelli on Saturday.

With only two points separating Galatasaray and Antalyaspor in the table, a tight encounter is on the cards here.

Forebet predicts that Galatasaray and Antalyaspor will play out a low-scoring draw on Saturday.
