Liverpool welcome Leicester City to Anfield on Wednesday, with both sides aiming to book their spot in the EFL Cup semi-finals.

The teams are separated by 19 points in the Premier League table. Liverpool sit second on 41 points, while Leicester are ninth with 22 points to their name.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have lost just one of their 26 matches across all competitions this season, underlining their dominance.

They beat Norwich and Preston on their way to reaching the EFL Cup quarter-finals before winning all six of their Champions League group games.

The Reds head into Wednesday’s clash on a nine-game unbeaten streak in all competitions, having picked up eight wins and a draw since their last loss.

It is also worth noting that Liverpool are the top scorers in the Premier League. They have netted 50 goals in 18 league games, averaging 2.8 goals per game.

Klopp’s side were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham last time out. After coming from behind to lead, they were eventually forced to settle for a point.

Meanwhile, Leicester claimed a 4-0 victory over Newcastle in their previous outing – thanks largely to a Youri Tielemans brace.

The Foxes have had their last two Premier League games postponed, however, meaning they haven’t played for over a week.

Leicester have recorded three wins, one draw and two losses in their past six games, emphasizing their inconsistency.

Their route to the EFL Cup quarter-finals has been shaky, too. After edging out Championship side Millwall, they got past Brighton on penalties.

Head-to-head: Leicester have only managed to win one of their last eight meetings with Liverpool, suffering six defeats along the way.

It is also worth pointing out that Klopp’s side have kept two clean sheets in their previous three matches against the Foxes.

Team news: Liverpool’s lengthy injury list includes Nat Phillips, Divock Origi and Harvey Elliott. Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Curtis Jones and Thiago Alcantara are all COVID-19 doubts.

Leicester have multiple absentees at the moment, too, with Wesley Fofana, Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu and James Justin sidelined through injury. The club is also dealing with coronavirus issues.

It’s safe to say that the EFL Cup is not a top priority for Liverpool or Leicester. That said, Klopp’s squad is better equipped to deal with this clash.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Liverpool will secure a clean-sheet victory over Leicester on Wednesday.
