Bordeaux and Lille to both score in midweek clash

Bordeaux finally broke their five-match drought in the French top flight with a 2-1 win away from home at Troyes last time out in Ligue 1 and they now return to the more familiar surroundings of their Stade Matmut-Atlantique for Wednesday night’s clash against Lille.
However, although the win at Troyes will bring Bordeaux renewed optimism, the fact still remains that the hosts have found league wins difficult to come by as they’ve managed to pick up just three wins throughout this whole Ligue 1 campaign to date.
In addition, Bordeaux have managed to register just one home win from their previous nine matches at their Stade Matmut-Atlantique, so the prospects of a straight home win here on Wednesday night do seem slim at best.
The goals market appeals though as eight of Bordeaux’s nine home games so far this season have seen both teams score and with the likes of forwards Hwang Ui-Jo (6 goals) and Elis (5 goals) up front, the hosts look to have a fair chance of scoring here.
Onto Lille and the visitors continue to flounder in a disappointing mid-table position of 11th place in the French top flight despite putting together a stubborn looking six-match unbeaten run.
Victories over Rennes and Troyes, both by 2-1 margins, along with four draws with Angers, Monaco, Nantes and Lyon should at least give Lille confidence in getting a result of some sort away at Bordeaux on Wednesday night.
Lille have actually lost just two of their last 12 matches overall in Ligue 1 and this run also includes earlier wins against Reims, Strasbourg and Marseille, so the visitors may well fancy their chances of further success on the road in this fixture.
Results away from home in recent times though have been a far cry from Lille’s title-winning exploits last season which saw the visitors win 12 of 13 away games on their way to claiming the domestic top flight crown.
This term, Lille have managed just two wins from their nine games on their travels while seven of these nine games have also resulted in both teams hitting the back of the net as well.
Therefore, the goals market appeals in this clash between Bordeaux and Lille on Wednesday night.
