Bologna to Edge Past Fiorentina and Get Closer to the Top Five

In what is one of the most important clashes of the season, Bologna will travel to Florence to meet with Fiorentina as the winner has the chance to break the mould on the top five for the first time.

Serie A is arguably the best league on the planet right now, as we see a three-horse race in the Premier League and a two-horse race in Germany and Spain, but in Italy, teams from first to eighth could see drastic changes to their league position in weeks.

As of now, following a fantastic, professional display against Roma, Bologna have now managed to narrow the gap on the fifth-placed side to just a point, while they are now nine points with Atalanta in fourth and as long as they keep drilling away and racking up points, a European dream is alive.

Siniša Mihajlović’s currently boast seven wins from their 15 games so far, while they've drawn three and managed to lose five. Whilst this is not a torrid record, they have been saved by the likes of Lazio below them as their equally poor form has allowed Bologna to stay on the heels of seventh-placed giants, Juventus.

Moreover, what just about sums up the club’s form thus far is their goal difference; Bologna have managed to score only 21 goals so far and conceded 24.

In fact, they’ve not managed to net over 2.5 goals in the league on more than three occasions and they are not expected to do so here either.

As for Fiorentina, it’s been another excellent rise from mid-table for them over the course of this season as the club have gradually flirted with the drop zone in recent times. However, with eight wins from 15 games, no draws and seven losses, they are well on course for a top half finish and a fight for Europe.

The Champions League spots are likely too far away for them, perhaps the Europa League too. On the other hand, the Europa Conference League spot is anyones to take as the likes of Bologna, Fiorentina, Juventus and Lazio fail to find any sort of consistency.

Similarly to Bologna, their goals scored is not too great as they've netted 24 times and let in 20, but this does bode well for them moving forward. Nevertheless, the form of Bologna right now is quite strong and Forebet predicts them to get the win here.

Forebet also predicts the game will see under 2.5 goals as goals have not come in drastic measures thus far for either side.
