West Ham could push Man City all the way in top-four battle
6418

Manchester City welcome West Ham United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, with just two places and three points separating the teams in the Premier League table.

Man City currently sit second – three points behind first-place Chelsea and one point ahead of third-place Liverpool.

On the flip side, West Ham find themselves fourth – three points shy of Man City and three points clear of fifth-place Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola’s side head into Sunday’s clash on the back of an impressive 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.

City enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and racked up 16 shots on Wednesday, limiting the Parisians to just two attempts on target.

That victory means that Man City have won each of their previous four games across all competitions, scoring over 1.5 goals on each occasion.

Guardiola’s men have also won four of their last five Premier League matches, keeping a clean sheet in three of those victories.

Meanwhile, West Ham have won seven of their 12 Premier League games this term – registering two draws and three losses in the process.

David Moyes’ men were enjoying a four-match winning streak in the league before losing 1-0 to Wolves last weekend.

Still, the fact that West Ham have won five of their previous seven Premier League games tells you everything you need to know about their revival under Moyes.

The Hammers are also enjoying remarkable UEFA Europa League campaign. They have won four and drawn one of their five European games, scoring 11 goals while conceded just twice.

Thanks to 2-0 victory away at Rapid Vienna on Thursday, West Ham find themselves six points clear at the top of Group H.

Head-to-head: Man City and West Ham have already faced each other in the EFL Cup this term. Following a goalless 90 minutes, Moyes’ men won 5-3 on penalties.

In the Premier League, however, West Ham haven’t beaten Man City since 2015. City have won nine of the last 11 league meetings, with two draws coming along the way.

Team news: Ferran Torres remains a long-term absentee for Man City. Jack Grealish and Phil Foden are also doubts for Sunday’s clash.

West Ham have only one injury absentee at the moment, with Angelo Ogbonna expected to miss the rest of the season.

Although West Ham are enjoying an outstanding campaign so far, Man City are expected to flex their muscles and claim all three points on Sunday.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score at the Etihad Stadium. However, Man City are likely to come out on top.
