Montpellier will be looking to return to winning ways this Sunday afternoon when they return to the more familiar surroundings of their Stade de la Mosson when they prepare for the visit of Lyon in the French top flight.

Montpellier slipped to a 2-0 defeat away from home at Rennes in last weekend’s clash following the international break which also prevented Dall’Oglio’s side from collecting a third consecutive league win on the trot.

Sunday’s hosts had previously registered back-to-back wins in Ligue 1 over Nantes and Nice in 2-0 and 1-0 victories which has helped Montpellier up into the top half of the French top flight in 9th place.

Overall results this season have been fairly inconsistent for Montpellier but performances and results at home have been the highlight of the host’s season so far this term.

Montpellier have lost just one of their seven home games so far while also picking up four wins in the process; victories against Lorient, Saint-Etienne, Lens and Nantes prove that Montpellier are no pushovers on home soil.

Lyon sit just one league position below Sunday’s hosts, Montpellier, in 10th place prior to this weekend’s action in the French top flight and they too will be seeking a bounce-back win in Ligue 1 following a heavy 4-1 loss away at Rennes last time out.

The visitors have lost just two of their last seven matches overall while also picking up wins against Troyes, Monaco and Lens, all of which were registered on home turf at their Groupama Stadium where they still remain unbeaten to date this season.

However, Lyon’s results away from home continue to prove to be a headache for manager, Peter Bosz, as his side have stumbled to four matches without a win on their travels in recent weeks.

Three defeats out of their last four outings on the road have seen Lyon slip to losses away at PSG, Nice and Rennes while these last four away games have also seen Lyon ship a total of 10 goals in the process as well, so this upcoming trip to Montpellier could also prove to be troublesome for the visitors.

Montpellier have lost just two of their last 14 home games in Ligue 1 so the hosts stand a decent chance of a result here.
