Liverpool to claim fifth straight UCL win versus Porto
4859

Liverpool are at the top of Champions League Group B and will be a seeded team in the round of 16. The Reds have taken 12 points from 12 on offer in the Champions League and Jurgen Klopp can now rest players with the group win sealed.

Porto are on five points after four matches with just one point separating them from third-place Atletico Madrid. If Porto lose to Liverpool in the Champions League group stage, they could end the week behind Atletico Madrid in the race for qualification into the round of 16.

Liverpool thrashed Porto when the teams previously met in the Champions League. The Reds claimed a 5-1 win in Portugal thanks to two goals from Mohamed Salah, a goal from Sadio Mane, and two scores from Roberto Firmino.

The Reds warmed up for Wednesday’s game with a Saturday evening win against Arsenal, 4-0. Klopp is preparing for a busy time and can rest several key players against Porto.

Klopp will be without striker Roberto Firmino, centre-back Joe Gomez, midfielder Harvey Elliott, and Curtis Jones due to injuries. James Milner and Naby Keita are major doubts, while Andrew Robertson is likely to make the team following a thigh strain.

Diogo Jota is also suffering from a slight injury and could be rested with Takumi Minamino starting in attack. Meanwhile, Divock Origi is a doubt due to an injury.

Conceicao has no new injury issues going into the match this week. He will need to play his best squad possible to improve the team’s chances of qualifying for the next round of the Champions League.

Liverpool are on a three-match winning streak in the Champions League ahead of Wednesday’s game with Porto at Anfield. The teams’ previous two games finished with Liverpool winning by a combined score of 9-2.

The Reds have outscored opponents 13-5 in the Champions League group stage. Three of Liverpool’s four Champions League matches finished with both teams scoring and more than 2.5 goals.

Three of Porto’s four Champions League matches ended with under 2.5 goals. Their only Champions League game to end with over 2.5 goals was against Liverpool.

Regardless of the side that Klopp selects, Liverpool should collect a win at the end of full-time on Wednesday. Liverpool are the cream of the crop in Group B. The teams should combine for over 2.5 goals as they both score at Anfield.
