QPR and Luton to Keep up the Trend of Closely-Fought Championship Draws on Friday

Queens Park Rangers will welcome Luton Town to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium as sixth meets 11th in this crucial Championship bout between the two sides competing for a play-off position early on in the 2021/22 campaign.

It has been an excellent campaign from the R’s so far and they are turning against all the odds to rise up the table and make it into the final play-off position ahead of gameweek 18 in England’s second tier.

As of now, there is not much separating the rest of the pack outside of Bournemouth, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, who are all charging ahead of the division in pursuit of Premier League football.

QPR in sixth, however, are only four points ahead of Birmingham City in 15th which just goes to show how close the Championship is this campaign and how it is arguably the closest competition around Europe once again.

Now, with seven wins, five draws, and five defeats, QPR can leapfrog Stoke City if they fail to take all three points from the visiting Peterborough United on Saturday, which isn’t expected.

Nevertheless, as the third top scorers in the division, Mark Warburton’s men need not to worry about current form in their own backyard.

The club have slipped up slightly in recent times after drawing with Nottingham Forest and Blackpool, although they did beat Cardiff City.

In their past 10 games, QPR have now lost four games and drawn the other two, meaning only Birmingham, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff, and Preston North End succumbed to the fierce attack of the R’s.

As for Luton, their form is as topsy-turvy as it gets as they are still yet to put together two wins on the bounce throughout the 17 games so far, as they have often won a game and drawn the next one.

In fact, with six wins and six draws, it just about sums up why they sit 11th in the table and have failed to break the top six thus far.

Nevertheless, given how other clubs above them don’t exactly boast much greater form, Luton are sitting only two points below QPR meaning a win could force them into sixth if other results go their way and jump a massive five places in the table.

Given how close the two are and how Luton are also big scorers in the division, Forebet predicts a very close game here and one that will see under 2.5 goals. Forebet also predicts a draw as the trend of closely-fought Championship matches continues.
