Seven points separate Milan and Inter in the Serie A table as the two rivals prepare to do battle at the San Siro on Sunday night.

The defending champions have lost just one of their 11 league games this season and sit third in the standings as a result.

On the flip side, Milan remain unbeaten this term and sit second in the table – level with first-place Napoli on 31 points.

Remarkably, Milan have won ten and drawn one of their 11 Serie A matches this season – winning each of their previous seven.

Not only are they the second-highest scorers in Italy’s top tier, but they also boast the second-best defensive record.

When you look at the bigger picture, Milan are unbeaten in their past 16 Serie A games and have only lost two of their previous 22.

Despite their domestic dominance, Milan have struggled to carry their home form onto the European stage this season.

They drew 1-1 with Porto on Wednesday and sit rock bottom of Champions League Group B, having taken just one point from a possible 12.

Inter were also in action on Wednesday. They beat Sheriff 3-1 away from home, meaning they now sit second in Champions League Group D.

In Serie A, the reigning champs have lost only one of their 11 outings this term – picking up seven wins and three draws in the process.

Simone Inzaghi’s men are the highest scorers in Italy’s top division, having netted 28 goals already this season.

Thanks to an outrageous run last term, Inter have lost just two of their previous 33 encounters in Serie A.

Head-to-head: Milan have only managed to win one of their past 12 meetings with Inter across all competitions, recording four draws and seven losses along the way.

Inter have won six of the previous seven Derby della Madonninas, scoring over 1.5 goals on four occasions in that time.

Team news: Alessandro Plizzari, Mike Maignan, Junior Messias, Ante Rebic, Samu Castillejo and Pietro Pellegri are all currently injured for Milan.

As for Inter, they have no fresh injury concerns. Gabriel Brazao remains a long-term absentee, while Christian Eriksen won’t feature again this season.

They Derby della Madonnina always produces tons of excitement, meaning we should see plenty of goals at the San Siro on Sunday.

Forbet predicts that Milan will extend their unbeaten streak by scoring over 1.5 goals on their way to victory.
