Brighton tipped to frustrate Liverpool at Anfield
4908

Liverpool will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak to 24 games when Brighton & Hove Albion visit Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Seagulls sit fifth in the Premier League table – six points behind second-place Liverpool – suggesting that Jurgen Klopp’s men won’t have it all their own way this weekend.

Liverpool have yet to lose a game this season, picking up six wins and three draws in the Premier League – along with positive results in the Champions League and EFL Cup.

A much-changed Liverpool team beat Championship side Preston on the EFL Cup on Wednesday, with Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi grabbing the goals.

Liverpool’s last Premier League game saw them humiliate arch-rivals Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford.

Mohamed Salah notched a hat-trick and an assist last weekend, taking his tally for the season to 15 goals and five assists in 12 appearances.

Trends show that Klopp’s side have gone into half-time undefeated in each of their previous 16 Premier League outings.

If they can pick up where they left off at Old Trafford, Salah and co. will almost certainly cause Brighton all kinds of problems.

As for Brighton, they suffered a penalty shootout defeat to Leicester on Wednesday. Despite dominated large spells of normal time, Graham Potter’s men failed to seal to the deal.

However, the Seagulls have made an impressive start to the Premier League campaign – losing just two of their opening nine matches.

That said, they were completely outclassed by Manchester City last weekend. Pep Guardiola’s team claimed a 4-1 victory at the Amex Stadium, racking up 23 attempts in the process.

Head-to-head: Brighton avoided defeat to Liverpool last season, claiming a 1-1 draw at home before winning 1-0 at Anfield.

It is worth noting, however, that Brighton have managed to win just one of their past ten meetings with the Reds – suffering eight losses in that time.

Team news: James Milner, Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliot remain sidelined for Liverpool, although Fabinho and Naby Keita could return this weekend.

Brighton currently have three injury absentees, with Danny Welbeck (thigh), Dan Burn (knee) and Steven Alzate (foot) on the treatment table.

When you couple Brighton’s impressive start to the season with their record in this fixture last term, the visitors could frustrate the hosts on Saturday.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Brighton will hold Liverpool to a draw, with both teams netting over 1.5 goals.
