Man Utd need big response at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s humiliating 5-0 thrashing to Liverpool when they visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

That defeat has seen Man Utd drop to seventh in the Premier League table – seven points behind first-place Chelsea.

Tottenham now sit one place and one point ahead of Man Utd, despite losing their previous Premier League game to rivals West Ham United.

Spurs booked their place in the EFL Cup quarter-finals with a 1-0 victory over Burnley on Wednesday, thanks to Lucas Moura’s second-half goal.

Following back-to-back defeats to Vitesse and West Ham, Nuno Espirito Santo will be pleased that his team managed to bounce back in midweek.

On a brighter note, Tottenham have won four of their previous six encounters across all competitions – scoring 11 goals in the process.

Spurs have enjoyed decent success on home soil in recent times, losing just one of their last six matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Given that each of their past three home games have produced over 2.5 goals, we are set for a high-scoring affair on Saturday.

It’s fair to say that Man Utd were completely outclassed by Liverpool last time out. Not only did they concede five goals, but they also saw just 36% of the ball on home soil.

As a result, the Red Devils have only managed to win three of their previous nine outings across all competitions.

It is worth noting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their past ten matches, too.

If Cristiano Ronaldo and co. don’t turn things around quickly, Solskjaer could find himself out of a job in the not-too-distant future.

Head-to-head: Tottenham crushed Man Utd 6-1 at Old Trafford last season before the Red Devils beat Spurs 3-1 in North London.

Tottenham have managed to beat Man Utd just twice in their previous seven encounters across all competitions.

Team news: Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns at the moment, with Ryan Sessegnon the only notable absentee.

As for Man Utd, Paul Pogba is suspended following his red card against Liverpool last weekend. Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial are both injury doubts.

Although Man Utd are on a bad run at the moment, they invariably seem to bounce back under Solskajer.

For that reason, Forbet predicts that United will score over 2.5 goals on their way to beating Spurs on Saturday.
