Wigan set to continue stellar start to the season against Lincoln City

On Tuesday night, League One leader's Wigan Athletic host Lincoln City at the DW Stadium, as the Latics look to move back to the top of the table.

Wigan are currently third place in the League One table, two points behind league leaders Plymouth Argyle with a game in hand. With a full schedule of midweek league matches, the team from the north west will hope to go into the weekend fixtures back at the top of the standings.

Leam Richardson’s team heads into this clash on the back of three wins in their previous four matches in the third tier after a 2-0 win at AFC Wimbledon last time out.

The Latics have kept clean sheets in all three of those recent league wins, while also scoring at least twice in the three victories.

Despite their lofty position in the League One table, Wigan have an inconsistent recent record at the DW Stadium. In fact, Athletic have suffered back-to-back home league defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons.

Lincoln have made a highly inconsistent start to their campaign in League One and currently sit 15th place in the standings. A 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday last time out means that the Imps have won just one of their previous five matches in the third tier.

The visitors have had defensive problems of late, as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in League One in 16 outings.

Lincoln have a mixed recent record on their travels in League One, although they have won just two of their previous 11 away matches in the English third tier.

One positive for the visitors is that they defeated the home side in both their meetings last season in League One.
