Valencia to Climb the Table With a Much-Needed Win Over RCD Mallorca

RCD Mallorca will make the trip across Spain to clash with Valencia in what is a vital mid-table clash in the Spanish top flight with Valencia slumped into 10th just as Mallorca aim to get further away from the drop zone as they sit in 13th.

It has been a torrid season for Valencia by their usual standards and although the club have been in disarray for a number of years, to sit in 10th after only nine games is quite alarming for the Mestalla faithful.

After these nine games, the club sit with the same results across the board, as they have three defeats, three wins and three losses.

It also means the club sit with a positive goal difference, however, as they’ve scored 13 goals and let in 11 from the opening games, and it all shows relatively decent signs that they can progress further up the table with a little bit of form.

Most recently, Valencia crashed further down the La Liga table, however, as they were defeated by Barcelona in what was actually a relatively easy 3-1 victory for the home side that day. Jose Gaya scored Valencia’s only goal that game and his decent start to the season has continued.

More worrying after this result though, is the fact it now means the club have gone five games without registering a single win, which is why they’ve slipped so far away from the top end and will struggle to get back up there.

Their last win came as they thumped Osasuna 4-1, but they have since lost to Real Madrid, Sevilla and Barcelona, while they even managed a low-scoring draw with Athletic Club and a goalless draw with Cadiz.

As for Mallorca, their return to La Liga has so far gone completely to plan as they sit a distance away from the drop zone by six points, which is a lot in these circumstances. Currently, Levante Deportivo Alaves and Getafe occupy the bottom three, but with Mallorca boasting three wins so far, there is a clear gap early on.

The club did lose to Real Sociedad 1-0 last time out, but considering they occupy the top spot in La Liga right now, this wasn’t the most alarming result in the world, and in fact showed how defensively solid they can be as it was a 90th-minute goal that made the difference.

Regardless of the positives, Forebet predicts a win for Valencia here in a game that will see over 2.5 goals.
