Lazio welcome Inter Milan to Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, hoping to end the defending champions’ unbeaten start to the 2021/22 Serie A season.

Inter have picked up five wins and two draws from their opening seven games and find themselves third in the table – four points shy of first-place Napoli.

Meanwhile, sixth-place Lazio have taken three wins, two draws and two losses so far – leaving them six points behind Inter.

Lazio won their first two games while scoring nine goals in the process, only to go on a three-game winless streak soon after.

The club from the capital then beat arch rivals Roma. However, they suffered a 3-0 loss to Bologna just before the international break.

Despite seeing 60% of the ball against Bologna, Lazio failed to make the most of their dominance and ended up suffering their third loss of the campaign.

It is worth pointing out, however, that Lazio haven’t loss any of their previous 16 home games in Italy's top tier.

Although they have struggled for consistency this term, Maurizio Sarri’s men are extremely difficult to overcome on home soil.

As we know, Inter have yet to taste defeat in Serie A this season – picking up five victories and a couple of draws along the way.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have netted a whopping 22 goals across their first seven league matches, averaging just over three goals per game.

Although Romelu Lukaku left the club during the summer, Inter clearly haven’t struggled for goals this season.

New signing Edin Dzeko has scored six goals in seven Serie A appearances, while Lautaro Martinez has bagged five in six.

Thanks to a remarkable end to the previous campaign, Inter have lost just one of their last 29 league matches.

Head-to-head: Lazio have only managed to win two of their past ten meetings with Inter across all competitions.

Both teams have scored in each of their previous three encounters, with two of those games dishing up over 2.5 goals.

Team news: Top scorer Ciro Immobile has joined Bobby Adekanye on the Lazio treatment table, giving Sarri a selection headache in attack.

As for Inter, they will be without injured duo Gabriel Brazao and Stefano Sensi for the trip to the Italian capital.

Although Lazio have an excellent record on home soil, Inter should have enough firepower to claim all three points on Saturday.

Forbet predicts that Inter will edge out Lazio in a high-scoring thriller, with over 4.5 goals expected.
