Group B strugglers set to share the spoils
Kosovo vs Georgia - 12/10/2021
2587
On Tuesday night, Kosovo and Georgia meet in Group B of the European section of World Cup qualifying. In truth, both teams have been poor so far in the group and are just fighting to avoid finishing bottom.
Kosovo are currently in fourth place in the group, three points above the visitors, who are rock bottom of the standings. The home team heads into this game on the back of a three-game winless streak.
They have also suffered back-to-back defeats against the group’s top-two teams Spain and Sweden.
The recent defeats in qualifying were not a major shock, as the minnows have struggled in World Cup qualifying since making their debut in 2016. In fact, Kosovo have lost 14 of their 16 qualifiers, having picked up just one win in the process.
Unsurprisingly, their recent home results in qualifying have been poor, as they have lost seven of their previous eight qualifiers on home soil.
Georgia have taken just one point from their six games in Group B so far.
However, a victory in this encounter would move them off the bottom of the group standings, as both teams are currently level on goal difference, even if three points separate them in the table.
The visitors will be aware that a win is unlikely to be easy, as Kosovo have already beaten them in the reverse fixture, which is the home sides only win to date in World Cup qualifying.
Georgia also heads into this game in poor form, as they have suffered five straight international defeats while winning just one of their previous 14 international matches.
They have also failed to win any of their previous 23 matches in qualifying for the World Cup.
Forebet predicts that these two strugglers will produce a low-scoring draw, which would maintain the status quo at the bottom of the group.
