The French Ligue 1 action continues on Saturday and features the clash between Montpellier and Strasbourg at the Stade de la Mosson as the hosts seek out a bounce-back win in the domestic top flight following a 2-0 defeat away at PSG a few days ago.
Montpellier have failed to win any of their last three games overall in Ligue 1 as they’d previously also been held to 1-1 and 3-3 draws with Troyes and Bordeaux respectively but results on home turf have been more encouraging in recent times.
The hosts have suffered just the two defeats out of their last 11 matches at their Stade de la Mosson which were to Saint-Etienne and Marseille, but they’ve also picked up five wins during this sequence including a 4-3 win over Saturday’s opponents, Strasbourg, as well.
In addition, Montpellier have scored 2 goals or more in eight of their last 11 home games in Ligue 1 and they’ve also won each of the previous three meetings on the trot against Strasbourg as well.
Strasbourg head into this Saturday afternoon clash at the Stade de la Mosson having won three of their last five matches overall in the French top flight with victories gained over Brest, Metz and Lens.
However, two of these three wins were achieved on home turf at their Stade de la Meinau, while results away from home have produced a more mixed bag of returns for the visitors in recent times.
With just three away wins from their previous nine matches on their travels, Strasbourg may well find themselves up against it when they make their way to face Montpellier this Saturday.
The visitors have managed to keep just two clean sheets in these last nine away games in Ligue 1.
As a result, Strasbourg have found it difficult to string together a meaningful unbeaten run of results on the road and this has contributed to the visitor’s current mid-table position of 12th place so far this season.
Montpellier have held the upper hand in previous recent exchanges, winning each of the last three meetings on the trot.
Even though they lost last time out to PSG, the hosts look in reasonable shape to grab the all-important three points this Saturday afternoon at their Stade de la Mosson ground.
