Almeria tipped to seal third straight league victory in Girona
7678

Almeria will be looking to secure their third straight Segunda Division win when they face Girona at Montilivi on Monday night.

Almeria find themselves second in the table – one point behind first-place Sporting Gijon – after winning five of their opening seven games this season.

At the opposite end of the standings, Girona sit fifteenth – seven points shy of Almeria – having won just two of their seven league outings so far.

Along with a couple of wins, Girona have recorded two draws and three losses this term. As a result, they have only managed to take eight points from a possible 21.

They have also netted a measly five goals this season, meaning only two sides in the division have a poorer offensive record.

Still, it is worth remembering that Girona have only lost two of their previous 13 home games in Segunda Division.

Having taken four points from their previous two outings, Girona will be confident of causing Almeria problems on Monday.

Almeria, on the other hand, have made a seriously strong start to the 2021/22 Segunda Division campaign.

Not only have they won five of their opening seven games, but they have also scored a whopping 15 goals in the process.

Averaging just over two goals per game, Almeria are the top scorers in Spain’s second tier by a considerable margin.

Umar Sadiq has been the start of the show so far. The Nigerian striker has bagged five goals in seven outings this term, as well as two assists.

Meanwhile, Largie Ramazini has notched three goals, with Curro Sanchez contributing a goal and two assists.

Head-to-head: It is worth remembering that Almeria have only managed to win one of their previous seven league meetings with Girona.

That said, Almeria have lost just one of their last four encounters with Girona – registering one win and two draws in that time.

Team news: Girona currently have no injury worries, although midfielder Ramon Terrats is one yellow card away from receiving a suspension.

Almeria are also injury-free at the moment, meaning head coach Rubi is expected to stick with the same starting XI that beat Tenerife 3-1 last time out.

Although Girona have a decent record against Almeria, it is difficult to ignore Almeria’s flying start to the season.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Almeria will record four straight wins on Monday – keeping a clean sheet in the process.
