Juventus aim to end stuttering start against Sampdoria
4876

Juventus host Sampdoria in a tricky fixture at the Allianz Arena on Sunday in Serie A’s early game. Sampdoria always give Juventus a difficult game and will aim to keep the pressure on a poor Bianconeri on matchday 6.

Max Allegri’s team is struggling in Serie A, but they came through a tough midweek match with Spezia to win 3-2. The victory gave Juventus a first win of the domestic season. It sent them from the bottom three up to 12th in the standings.

Sampdoria are level on points with Juventus going into matchday 6 with five points from 15 on offer. Napoli took Sampdoria apart in midweek at the Marassi 4-0. The loss ended a three-match unbeaten run for the Genoa-based club.

The Old Lady have won four straight games against Sampdoria in Serie A. The last three games between these sides finished in wins to nil for Juventus.

Despite their excellent run of form against Sampdoria in recent seasons, the Old Lady are playing poorly and look disjointed on the pitch. Juventus have taken just one point from six possible at home. They have scored a mere one goal while allowing two at the Allianz Arena.

Sampdoria are unbeaten on the road this season with four points from six possible. Roberto D’Aversa’s team have played well away from home keeping two clean sheets in two games.

Forward Francesco Caputo leads Sampdoria in goals this season with two in three appearances. Caputo joined from Sassuolo at the end of August. Antoino Candreva, a former Juventus player from what feels like a lifetime ago, has a goal and an assist. He is the team’s chief creator.

Juventus are led in goals by Alvaro Morata with two. Moise Kean, signed in the summer from Everton, got his first goal for the Old Lady in midweek against Spezia.

Allegri could be without three players. Defender Giorgio Chiellini could miss out after suffering an illness. Midfielder Arthur remains a doubt for the game as does summer signing Kaio Jorge.

D’Aversa has just one player on the Sampdoria injury list. Forward Manolo Gabbiadini could return in time for the game following an ankle injury.

Juventus may have won four straight games against Sampdoria, but this weekend could see the Blucerchiati pick up points away from home.

Sunday’s game should be a close fixture with under 2.5 goals scored and Sampdoria claiming a draw versus Juventus in an entertaining match.
