Southampton could record fifth straight EPL draw when Wolves visit St. Mary’s

Just one point separates Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League table as the two sides prepare to do battle at St. Mary’s on Sunday.
Fifteenth-place Wolves trail fourteenth-place Saints, having lost four of their opening five league games this term.
Southampton have only lost one of their first five league matches, although they head into Sunday’s clash on the back of four consecutive draws.
The south coast side advanced to the fourth round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday, beating Sheffield United on penalties after playing out a 2-2 draw.
However, they have yet to taste victory in the Premier League this season – losing to Everton before drawing with Manchester United, Newcastle, West Ham and Manchester City.
Due to a terrible end to the previous campaign, Southampton have only managed to win four of their last 26 league outings.
They have enjoyed success on home soil recently, though, losing just one of their previous seven league matches at St. Mary’s.
On the flip side, Wolves kicked off their campaign with three straight losses – falling to Leicester, Tottenham and Man Utd.
After picking up their first win of the season on Matchday 4, Bruno Lage’s men suffered a 2-0 loss to Brentford last weekend.
While Southampton have been solid at home of late, Wolves have endured a tough time on the road recently.
Indeed, the Wanderers have only managed to win three of their previous 16 away games in the Premier League.
To make matters worse, Wolves lost to Tottenham on penalties in the EFL Cup on Wednesday – despite coming from 2-0 down in normal time to rescue a draw.
Head-to-head: Southampton have only managed to win one of their last five meetings with Wolves in all competitions.
In fact, Wolves have lost just two of their previous 12 matches against Southampton across all competitions.
Team news: Stuart Armstrong, Theo Walcott, Jack Stephens and Will Smallbone are all injury doubts for Southampton.
As for Wolves, they will be without injured trio Jonny, Pedro Neto and Hugo Bueno for their trip to the south coast.
Considering Southampton have drawn each of their previous four league games, a tense encounter is on the cards at St. Mary’s. Plus, Wolves have struggled for goals this term.
