Leicester tipped to extend Burnley’s winless start with clean-sheet victory

Burnley will be looking to pick up their first Premier League win of the season when they face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Clarets have only managed to take one point from a possible 15 this term and find themselves second from bottom in the table as a result.

On the flip side, twelfth-place Leicester have registered two wins and three defeats in the Premier League – meaning they sit five points clear of Burnley.

The Foxes won two of their opening three matches this term, claiming wins over Wolves and Norwich either side of a loss to West Ham.

They have since lost each of their previous two league matches, however, going down to Manchester City and Brighton.

To make matters worse, Brendan Rodgers’ men threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Napoli in the Europa League last week.

That said, the Foxes restored some pride on Wednesday – beating Millwall 2-0 in the EFL Cup thanks to goals from Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Burnley picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday, beating Rochdale 4-1 in the EFL Cup. Jay Rodriguez scored all four goals in the space of 27 second-half minutes.

When it comes to the Premier League, though, Sean Dyche’s men have failed to win any of their opening five matches.

In fact, they have already suffered four losses this term – falling to Brighton, Liverpool, Everton and Arsenal.

The Clarets’ only point of the campaign came via a 1-1 draw with Leeds on Matchday 2, with Patrick Bamford scoring an 86th-minute equaliser for the visitors.

When you look at the bigger picture, Burnley have only managed to win four of their previous 24 matches in the Premier League.

Head-to-head: Burnley have only managed to win one of their last six Premier League meetings with Leicester, winning 2-1 at Turf Moor in January 2020.

Worse still, the Clarets have won just three of their previous 19 matches in all competitions against the Foxes.

Team news: Leicester’s defensive trio of James Justin, Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana are currently sidelined through injury.

As for Burnley, Kevin Long and Dale Stephens are both on the treatment table, while Josh Brownhill is also a doubt for Saturday’s clash.

When you couple Burnley’s poor start to the season with Leicester’s excellent record in this fixture, all signs point towards a home win on Saturday.

Forebet predicts that Leicester will secure a narrow victory at the King Power Stadium, keeping a clean sheet in the process.
