Sixth-place Sevilla and third-place Valencia are separated by just two points in the La Liga table as the two sides prepare to go head-to-head in southern Spain on Wednesday.

Although Sevilla remain unbeaten this season (two wins, two draws), they currently find themselves trailing Valencia.

Having played one game more than Sevilla, Valencia have accumulated ten points, with three wins, one draw and one loss to their name.

Sevilla kicked off their campaign with back-to-back wins over Rayo Vallecano and Getafe, keeping two clean sheets in the process.

However, they have since registered three straight draws. As well as drawing with Elche and Real Sociedad, Sevilla drew 1-1 with Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.

Not only have Sevilla avoided defeat in each of their last six matches in all competitions, but they have also lost just seven of their previous 43.

Having won each of their last three home games in La Liga, Sevilla will be confident of avoiding defeat when Valencia come to town.

On the flip side, Valencia’s away record in the Spanish top-flight has been a real cause for concern in recent times.

They have only managed to win three of their previous 21 La Liga matches on their travels, underlining their struggles away from home.

That said, Valencia have only lost one of their previous seven league games – thanks to a strong start to the new season.

They have already beaten Getafe, Alaves and Osasuna this term, with a draw coming against Granada on Matchday 2.

Having netted ten goals in five games this season (two goals per game), Valencia are the second-highest scorers in the league.

Head-to-head: Sevilla have won each of their last four meetings with Valencia in all competitions without conceding a single goal.

Valencia have only managed to win one of their previous seven games against Sevilla, conceding eight goals along the way.

Team news: Fortunately for Sevilla, they don’t have any injury concerns heading into the midweek round of fixtures.

Valencia, on the other hand, will be without injured Russian winger Denish Cheryshev, as he continues to recover from a knee issue.

Both teams have started the new campaign in impressive fashion, meaning this is likely to be a tight game between two in-form sides.

With that in mind, Forbet predicts that Sevilla and Valencia will play out a low-scoring draw on Wednesday night.
