Villarreal and Atalanta Set to Play Out a Goalfest Draw in Group F

Villarreal will play host to Atalanta in the opening week of Champions League action in Group F as the two sides look to get a bit of momentum for the season with dull stars plaguing the start of the 2021/22 campaign for them.
Elsewhere in Group F, Manchester United will travel to Switzerland to play against Young Boys, and with the Red Devils expected to top the group with Cristiano Ronaldo and others, Villarreal and Atalanta could battle it out for second in this group.
Both, however, have started their league campaigns in pretty torrid form as Villarreal sit 11th in La Liga with three draws from three games, while Atalanta have won one, lost one and drawn the other in their first three fixtures of Serie A.
With this in mind, attention has swiftly turned to this Champions League fixture and given the form of either side, it’s set to be a close one, but at the same time, a must-win if they are to put their marker down on the continent so far.
As mentioned, Villarreal are winless this season and have only scored two goals so far in La Liga, which actually came in the same fixture, when they drew 2-2 with the champions, Atletico Madrid.
This can be seen as a positive result, but given how they lost to Braga in a friendly a week later and failed to score in their other games, the Yellow Submarine are clearly in bad form.
Atalanta, on the other hand, entered this season with a relatively positive attitude despite a topsy-turvy transfer window, which mainly came from the idea that Serie A this season is way more open and anybody’s title to win.
The club have, however, started poorly by their standards and they are coming off the back of a disappointing performance once more, as Fiorentina beat them 2-1. This comes following a lacklustre 0-0 draw with Bologna, which showed signs of a team that hasn’t yet got a grip on this season.
Now, ahead of this one, Atalanta are now winless since August 21st when they narrowly beat Torino with an injury time goal from Roberto Piccoli. With this said, a close game is expected here, but with both teams needing a win, over 2.5 goals and a draw is Forebet’s prediction for this one.
Do expect goals, but the form of either side right now does not bode well for them heading towards a win.
