Norwich tipped to take advantage of toiling Arsenal

The bottom two sides in the English Premier League go head-to-head on Saturday, as last-place Arsenal host Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium.

Although both teams have a woeful –9 goal difference, Norwich find themselves just ahead of the Gunners on goals scored.

In fact, Mikel Arteta’s men have yet to score a single Premier League goal this season – suffering three straight defeats in the process.

Arsenal were beaten 2-0 by newly-promoted Brentford on the opening weekend, before going down to Chelsea by the same scoreline.

A 6-0 thrashing of West Brom in the EFL Cup proved what the Gunners are capable of. However, they were crushed 5-0 by Manchester City last time out.

Following Granit Xhaka’s first-half red card, Arteta’s side failed to register and single shot on target and finished the game with just 19% possession to their name.

Across their opening three league matches, Arsenal have conceded nine goals while failing to find the back of the net themselves.

Funnily enough, Norwich's campaign has unfolded in a very similar manor, with three heavy league defeats coming either side of a 6-0 EFL Cup win.

The Canaries lost 3-0 to Liverpool before suffering a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Man City, although they hammered Bournemouth in the Cup.

Regardless of Teemu Pukki’s penalty last time out, Daniel Farke’s side were beaten 2-1 by Leicester City – extending their losing streak in the league.

Still, it is worth remembering that Norwich have only lost one of their last ten away matches in all competitions.

With Arsenal enduring a dismal start to the campaign, the Canaries will surely fancy their chance of getting something from Saturday’s game.

Head-to-head: Norwich’s last win over Arsenal came all the way back in 2012. Since then, the Gunners have claimed five wins and three draws in this fixture.

When Arsenal and Norwich last clashed in July 2020, the Gunners sealed a resounding 4-0 victory on home soil.

Team news: Granit Xhaka is suspended for Arsenal following his red card against City. Thomas Partey is injured, while Ben White could came back into the team.

Norwich could be without as many as six first-team players this weekend, including inured trio Bali Mumba, Przemyslaw Placheta and Sam Byram.

Of course, Arsenal should beat Norwich on Saturday. But after making such a poor start to the season, the Gunners could find themselves struggling against the Canaries.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Norwich will hold Arsenal to a high-scoring draw, with over 3.5 goals on the cards.
