Barcelona aim for second win of La Liga season

Barcelona host Getafe on Sunday at Camp Nou for matchday 3 in La Liga. The Blaugrana have taken four points from six available this season, but are coming off of a disappointing 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao.
Now, Ronald Koeman and company are aiming for three more points against a Getafe team that is searching for its first points of the new campaign. Getafe lost back-to-back matches to open the season against Valencia and Sevilla. Both matches ended in 1-0 scorelines.
Against Valencia, Getafe were beaten by a penalty while Sevilla secured a win thanks to a second half stoppage-time goal from Erik Lamela. Getafe are not shipping a lot of goals, just two, but they are yet to score this season under manager Michel.
Michel is in his first season at Getafe after previous manager Jose Bordalas moved to Valencia in the offseason. The new man in the dugout needs the team to find the back of the net soon or Getafe run the risk of fighting relegation this campaign.
Barcelona have won their last three games at Camp Nou against Getafe. In 2020-21, Barcelona thrashed Getafe by a 5-2 scoreline with goals from Lionel Messi (two), Ronald Araujo, and Antoine Griezmann.
The game saw two own goals as Getafe’s Sofian Chakla and Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet put the ball into their own net. Enes Unal scored a penalty for Getafe to make the game looks somewhat more respectable.
Barcelona’s Eric Garcia will miss the game through suspension after being sent off against Athletic Club on matchday 2. Defender Gerard Pique is injured with a calf issue and will remain out until September.
Defender Moussa Wague is out with a tendon issue, while the duo of Ansu Fati and Sergio Aguero are both expected to be out a little longer as well. Koeman could have Ousmane Dembele back from a knee injury for the game.
Michel is without three players for the trip to Camp Nou. Defender Marc Cucurella is ruled out with a muscle issue. Midfielder Sabit Abdulai has a knee injury and forward Dario Poveda are set to miss matches until September.
Barcelona are on a three-match winning streak against Getafe and should turn it into four matches in a row with a victory over their La Liga rivals.
Getafe’s goal drought should continue as Barcelona claim a win to nil with over 2.5 goals scored.
