There’s also action from the French Ligue 1 on Saturday night when Marseille take on Saint-Etienne at the Orange Velodrome with the hosts looking to maintain their unbeaten start to this new domestic top flight season.

Marseille started the new campaign with a 3-2 win away from home at Montpellier which was followed by a 2-2 draw at home with Bordeaux.

Which has helped the hosts to four points from their opening two games of the season, while the bigger picture shows that Marseille have suffered just one defeat from their last 10 games in Ligue 1 overall.

Four wins, four draws and just one defeat underline Marseille’s impressive and solid run of results while eight of these last 10 games have also resulted with both teams scoring as well.

Marseille are also unbeaten in their last nine games at their Orange Velodrome ground as well, but the hosts have also been susceptible to conceding as well as scoring as seven of their last nine matches have also resulted in both teams scoring.

Saint-Etienne currently occupy a mid-table position of 11th place in the early Ligue 1 standings after drawing each of their opening three matches of this new French top flight season, all of which also saw both teams score.

Stalemates with Lorient 1-1 at home, Lens 2-2 away and a 1-1 draw at home with Lille have given Saint-Etienne a reasonably solid start to the new domestic season but the fact remains that the visitors are now without a win in Ligue 1 from their last four matches.

Indeed, Saint-Etienne have managed to actually win just two of their previous nine games in Ligue 1, one of which was a 1-0 victory over Saturday’s opponents, Marseille, but that was on home soil at their Stade Geoffroy-Guichard towards the end of last season.

Nevertheless, Saint-Etienne produced some reasonable results away from home last season as the visitors finished last term having lost just two of their last nine games on the road which included five wins which were picked up at Nice, Rennes, Angers, Nimes and Montpellier.

Goals for both teams look likely here though as both teams have produced reasonable form of late in the French top flight.
