Wavering Burnley braced for tricky visit of Leeds
6918

Leeds United make the short trip west to face Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, with both sides still looking for the first Premier League win of the season.

Having registered one draw and one loss so far, fifteenth-place Leeds are one of three teams on one point.

Sitting two places below, Burnley currently have no points to their name after losing their opening two matches.

Burley threw away an early lead in their first league game of the new campaign, losing 2-1 to Brighton at Turf Moor.

They were then beaten 2-0 by Liverpool at Anfield. The Clarets saw just 33% possession against the Reds and struggled to deal with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota.

Unfortunately for Sean Dyche’s side, they are currently enduring a terrible run of form on home soil.

Burnley have lost each of their previous five home games in all competitions and have also won just one of their last 15 matches at Turf Moor.

Each of Burnley’s last five home games have produced over 2.5 goals, while each over Leeds’ previous four matches have dished up over 2.5 goals.

When you consider those statistics, Burnley and Leeds are likely to play out a high-scoring encounter on Sunday.

As for Leeds United, they were crushed 5-1 by Manchester United on the opening weekend. Despite edging the possession stats, they were completely outplayed by the Red Devils.

However, they were able to come from behind on two occasions to seal a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Everton last weekend.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men enjoyed 70% possession and racked up 17 shots against the Toffees, with goals from Mateusz Klich and Raphinha earning them a point.

Thanks to last weekend’s draw, Leeds have now lost just two of their previous 14 games in all competitions.

Head-to-head: Leeds did the double over Burnley last season, winning 1-0 at home before crushing the Clarets 4-0 at Turf Moor.

Burnley have only managed to win one of their last five meetings with Leeds, recording two draws and two losses in that time.

Team news: Burnley duo Kevin Long and Dale Stephens are injured, while Matej Vydra and Ashley Westwood are both doubts.

Leeds only have one injury doubt at the moment, with versatile Germany international Robin Koch likely to miss Sunday’s clash.

Considering what happened when Leeds last visited Turf Moor, winless Burnley look set for a third straight loss this weekend.

Forebet predicts that over 2.5 goals will be scored on Sunday. Leeds are expected to come out on top, though, picking up their first league win of the campaign in the process.
