The French top flight action continues on Friday night with the clash between Nantes and Lyon at the Stade de la Beaujoire with Nantes looking to topple last season’s 4th placed team in Ligue 1.

Nantes have made an indifferent start to this new Ligue 1 season as the hosts have won, drawn and lost in equal measure in their opening three games of this new term.

Having drawn 1-1 with Monaco, recorded a 2-0 home win over Metz but then losing 1-0 away from home at Rennes last time out.

However, Nantes have struggled for results on home turf in the French top flight as they’ve managed to win just two of their last 12 matches in Ligue 1 which includes six defeats and just the two wins that came in the form of victories over Bordeaux and Metz.

In addition, Nantes have found themselves on the losing side on the previous three meetings against Lyon, losing 2-1, 3-0 and 4-3 respectively, so this upcoming clash on Friday night may also present the hosts with further problems.

Last season’s 4th placed finishers, Lyon, have made a slow and frustrating start to this new Ligue 1 season as the visitors have drawn two and lost one of their opening three matches of this new domestic top flight campaign.

Draws with Brest 1-1 and Clermont Foot 3-3 were either side of a heavy 3-0 loss away at Angers but Lyon will be hoping that they can rekindle the sort of form which saw the visitors claim three wins from their final four games of last season on Friday night against Nantes.

Lyon finished last season with a flourish following wins against Monaco 3-2 away, a resounding 4-1 home win against Lorient.

A 5-2 win away from home at Nimes and although they were handed a 3-2 loss at home to Nice on the final day of last term, Lyon had done enough to claim a top four spot and a place in the Europa Conference League.

The visitors have also held the upper hand in previous exchanges against their Friday night’s hosts, Nantes, as Peter Bosz’s side have won the last three encounters on the trot against Nantes and it seems only a matter of time before forward, Ekambi, gets off the mark.
