Anorthosis FC vs Rapid Wien - 12/08/2021
3046
On Thursday evening, Anorthosis of Cyprus host the Austrian team Rapid Vienna in the Europa League third qualifying round second leg.
The visitors are already 3-0 up from the first leg and will be confident of sealing their place in the play-off stage of the competition.
Anorthosis are yet to kick off their domestic campaign but have enjoyed a promising pre-season run. That run was ended by the first leg hammering in the Austrian capital.
Considering the home sides recent results in the Europa League, the result will not have come as a shock to many.
The team from Larnaka have now lost four of their last five matches in the competition. However, those results do go back as far as 2013.
Their recent home record in Europe is a tad better, as Anorthosis have won three of their previous four home matches in the Europa League. However, those results were achieved against minor teams like FCI Levadia, Gelfe and Laci.
Rapid Vienna have made an inconsistent start to their domestic season, as they have taken four points from their opening three Bundesliga matches.
The first leg win means that Rapid are now unbeaten in three competitive games, which is at least a start for Didi Kuhbauer’s team.
The visitors also have a decent recent record in the Europa League, having won three of their last five matches in the competition.
The Austrian outfit has also been free-scoring in their matches in the competition, scoring at least two goals in four of their last five games.
However, they have found away games slightly more difficult, as Rapid have lost three of their last four away matches in the Europa League.
Forebet predicts that Rapid Vienna will finish the job by recording a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
