After having been handed a disappointing but understandable 2-0 defeat at home to Sporting Kansas, Wednesday night’s hosts, LA Galaxy, have another chance to redeem themselves when they entertain lowly FC Dallas at their Dignity Health Sports Park.
Although, the hosts seek to record a bounce-back win in this all-Western Conference clash.
LA Galaxy currently occupy 3rd place in the Western Conference having won seven of their 11 matches to date so far in this season’s MLS campaign but the hosts have also suffered four defeats within these opening 11 games and they haven’t had it all their own way.
Four of LA Galaxy’s seven wins to date have been achieved on home turf at their Dignity Health Sports Park with victories gained over New York RB, Los Angeles FC, Austin and San Jose Earthquakes but they’ve also lost a couple on home soil as well.
Losses to Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas show a possible vulnerable side to LA Galaxy and the hosts have also lost five of the previous six meetings against FC Dallas as well, so this may not be as clear cut as many anticipate.
Onto FC Dallas then, and it’s been a tough season so far for the visitors as they sit second from bottom in the Western Conference but are only four points adrift of Houston Dynamo and the top seven pack.
This is because although Dallas have picked up just two wins to date this season, they’ve also picked up points in five draws as well, and this has kept them at least within touching distance of a possible top seven finish in the Conference.
Dallas have registered wins against Portland Timbers and New England Revolution but they’ll need to improve results away from home if they’re to maintain their interest in a top seven spot as the visitors have lost all four of their away matches so far this term.
Defeats on the road at San Jose Earthquakes, Minnesota United, Colorado Rapids and Los Angeles do not bode well for this visit to LA Galaxy but they do possess a decent record against their hosts and they could well frustrate The Galaxy here on Wednesday night.
Five of Dallas’s last nine away games have seen the visitors either win, draw or lose by just a single goal and although LA Galaxy should win this one, Dallas could make life difficult for their hosts.
