Spirited Denmark tipped to end England’s Euro 2020 journey

Following Saturday’s 4-0 thrashing of Ukraine in Rome, England return home to Wembley on Wednesday to face Denmark in the Euro 2020 semi-finals

Denmark booked their spot in the last four with another impressive win, this time beating the Czech Republic 2-1 in Baku.

After seeing off Germany in emphatic fashion, England flexed their muscles and cemented their status as tournament favourites with an eye-catching victory over Ukraine.

Harry Kane bagged a brace in Rome, while there were also goals for Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson on Saturday.

Not only have the Three Lions netted eight goals in five Euro 2020 matches, but they have also yet to concede a goal at this summer’s competition.

In fact, Gareth Southgate’s men head into the semi-finals on the back of seven consecutive clean sheets in all competitions.

England are also enjoying an 11-game unbeaten streak, having picked up ten wins and one draw since losing to Belgium in the Nations League back in November 2020.

Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling have both scored three goals at Euro 2020, while the latter also has an assist to his name.

If we’re being completely honest, nobody expected Demark to reach the last four, especially when you consider what they have been through in recent weeks.

Following the Christian Eriksen incident, the Danes lost each of their opening two games before beating Russia 4-1 to scrape into the knockout phase.

However, they have continued to go from strength to strength and hammered Wales 4-0 in the Round of 16.

Last time out, first-half strikes from Thomas Delaney and Kasper Dolberg gave Denmark a 2-1 victory over the Czechs.

With three goals under his belt, Dolberg is Demark’s top scorer, while Joakim Maehle and Yussuf Poulsen have both bagged two goals at Euro 2020.

Let's not forget the Danes have now lost just three of their previous 17 matches in all competitions (12 wins, two draws).

Head-to-head: It is worth noting that England have only won one of their last six competitive meetings with Denmark (three draws, two losses).

However, the Three Lions have the superior head-to-head record overall, having only lost four of the 21 games between the teams over the years (12 wins, five draws).

Team news: Bukayo Saka could come back into England’s starting XI after missing the previous game through injury.

As for Denmark, Yussuf Poulsen could be restored to the line-up after returning from injury with a substitute appearance last time out.

England have done well to reach the semi-finals in back-to-back major tournaments, but in-form Denmark could end the Three Lions’ journey on Wednesday.

Forebet predicts that Denmark will achieve a low-scoring victory over England, keeping a clean sheet in the process.
