The Sounders to Continue Their March to Western Glory Against The Galaxy

Two giants of the MLS meet as LA Galaxy welcome Seattle Sounders to the Dignity Health Sports Park with the two barely separated once again as both the Western Conference sides are just three points apart.

Ahead of this one, as has often been the case in recent years, the Sounders are top of the table, whilst the Galaxy are in third.

The Seattle-based club are the only side unbeaten in the Western league and alongside Nashville in the Eastern Conference, they are the only unbeaten side in the MLS so far.

This fabulous record from the 2019 MLS Cup champions has brought in an awful lot of goals for them, with 14 netted from their eight games and despite consecutive leaguedraws for them, the Seattle Sounders put both San Jose Earthquakes and Los Angeles FC to the sword before this, proving their superiority over the rest of the division.

However, despite netting so many goals, it's their spectacular record in defence that is separating them from the other playoff hopefuls, with just three conceded for the MLS Cup favourites.

As a result, under 2.5 goals has been a popular feat in their games so far, with the last four games seeing under 2.5 goals, meaning only three games have seen over 2.5 this campaign.

Ironically enough, one of those games was against the Galaxy, who themselves have seen an extraordinary amount of goals this season, by letting in 11 and scoring just as many.

In three of the California side's five wins in the MLS so far, they have also led at half time, but both the New York Red Bulls and Inter Miami have clawed their way back into games against the LA Galaxy, whilst LAFC also managed to draw level until late on when Jonathan dos Santos won the El Tráfico for them.

Dos Santos has been quiet this season, however, and all the weight of this club has fallen on the shoulders of European veteran, Javier Hernandez, who currently boasts seven goals in seven games for the club.

Both the Sounders and the Galaxy have met already this season, as once again, star striker Raúl Ruidíaz netted twice, with Brad Smith also getting in on the action in a 3-0 demolition for the league leaders.

Greg Vanney's men were well beaten in that game, with the Sounders having 17 shots, nine on target, as well as seven corners.

It should be a close affair, given the history of these meetings.

However, the unbeaten form of Brian Schmetzer's side is just too impressive right now, especially as the Galaxy have thus far conceded just as many as they have scored themselves.
