British rivals England and Scotland clash at Wembley on Friday night as the Three Lions aim to build on their tournament-opening win over Croatia.

Meanwhile, Scotland were beaten 2-0 by the Czech Republic at Hampden Park in their first match of Euro 2020.

Although Croatia narrowly edged the possession statistics on Sunday, England never really looked as though they would concede.

Following a dominant first-half display, Raheem Sterling gave Gareth Southgate’s the lead early in the second half.

In total, England recorded eight shots, although only two of them hit the target. Still, it was a comfortable team performance from the Three Lions.

Looking at the bigger picture, England have now won each of their previous seven matches in all competitions.

Southgate’s men have netted 16 goals during that period (averaging almost 2.3 goals per game) and have also kept six clean sheets in their last seven outings.

Funnily enough, England head into Friday’s clash having claimed a 1-0 victory in each of their previous three encounters.

On the other hand, Scotland were beaten 2-0 by the Czechs on home soil in their opening Euro 2020 clash.

Despite enjoying 58% possession on Monday, the Scots conceded a goal either side of half-time and failed to recover.

It is also worth pointing out that Steve Clarke’s side racked up 19 shots last time out, while the Czech Republic only managed to register ten attempts.

Scotland were enjoying a five-match unbeaten streak heading into the European Championship (two wins, three draws).

However, Clarke’s men conceded over 1.5 goals for the third time in seven games in all competitions on Monday.

Head-to-head: England and Scotland last faced each other in World Cup qualifying back in 2017. The two sides produced a 2-2 draw on that occasion.

Still, let’s not forget that England have only lost one of their previous 11 games against Scotland (eight wins, two draws).

Team news: England goalkeeper Dean Henderson has withdrawn from the squad through injury. There are still question marks over the fitness of Jordan Henderson and Harry Maguire.

As for Scotland, Clarke is likely to shake things up following Monday’s loss. Southampton striker Che Adams could come into the starting XI.

The ease with each England dispatched Croatia was hugely impressive, meaning Southgate’s men should find Scotland far easier opponents.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that England will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet en route to beating their neighbours at Wembley.
