Following the harrowing incident involving Christian Eriksen, Denmark will look to regroup when they welcome Belgium to Copenhagen’s Parken on Thursday.

The Danes eventually lost their opening match of Euro 2020, suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nordic rivals Finland.

Meanwhile, Belgium opened their account with a hugely convincing 3-0 victory over Russia on Saturday night.

It’s safe to say that football took a backseat when Eriksen collapsed during Denmark’s opening match last weekend.

Although the Danes saw 70% possession and racked up 22 shots, they failed to get going when the game restarted – leaving Finland to convert their only shot on target.

Denmark headed into the European Championship having lost just once in 12 outings (nine wins, two draws).

However, their five-match unbeaten streak (four wins, one draw) was ended in the strangest circumstances imaginable.

It will obviously be very difficult for the Danes to pick themselves up for Thursday’s encounter, but they will have to try their best.

On the other hand, Belgium will be fired up for their next match following a statement win over Russia last time out.

While enjoying 67% of the ball, the Red Devils limited the Russians to just a single shot on target – netting three goals of their own.

Romelu Lukaku bagged an impressive brace, while Thomas Meunier’s first-half strike wrapped up the scoring.

Saturday’s victory saw Roberto Martinez’s side extend their unbeaten streak to ten games (eight wins, two draws).

Looking at the bigger picture, Belgium have only lost one of their previous 24 matches in all competitions.

Head-to-head: Denmark and Belgium faced each other during the Nations League in 2020. Belgium beat Denmark 2-0 in Copenhagen before sealing a 4-2 win on home soil.

However, the overall head-to-head record between the two nations is even. Both sides have recorded six wins in this fixture, while the other three encounters have ended level.

Team news: Needless to say, Denmark will be without Eriksen for the remainder of the European Championship.

Belgium could welcome back Kevin De Bruyne on Thursday, although Timothy Castagne will miss the rest of the tournament through injury.

Given what happened to Demark last weekend, Belgium are expected to cruise past the Danes without any problems.

Forbet predicts that Belgium will score over 3.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to thrashing Denmark.
