Bournemouth the place to be for Premier League goals

Over the last few seasons, Bournemouth under highly-rated young boss Eddie Howe have become an established Premier League club. Against all odds, the Cherries have worked their way up from the bottom to the top division.

The team has always played the same brand of exciting and attacking football. Even when people have questioned boss Howe’s philosophy, the team have played the same way.

Their style of football is exciting and leads to a lot of goals being scored, which is great for the fans, but not so great for the blood pressure of their boss.

High scoring games on home turf

Bournemouth games have become synonymous with goals in recent seasons. The Cherries home games at the Vitality Stadium, in particular, have been high scoring of late in the top-flight.

Incredibly, 15 of Bournemouth’s last 18 home games in the top-flight have produced over 2.5 goals. Even considering Howe’s attacking philosophy, that is still a high number of goals for a particular ground in the Premier League.

The fact that the Cherries have found the net at least twice in 11 of their last 14 games is a big contributory factor in those high scoring encounters.

Another big factor in the recent goal glut at the Vitality Stadium is that the Cherries struggle to keep clean sheets on home soil. In fact, the south coast team has kept just two clean sheets in 17 home games in the top-flight, which is a poor record by Premier League standards.

Vitality the place to go for goals

All the stats and the trends point to the Vitality Stadium being one of the best stadiums in the English Premier League for goals. The Cherries attacking threat has seen them rise to seventh place in the table.

However, while Howe’s side are an entertaining team to watch, they will never progress further without developing a defensive solidity.
