Saturday’s Round-up

Everton and Arsenal played out a dull draw at Goodison Park in the weekend’s early kick-off. Carlo Ancelotti and Mikel Arteta both watched from the stands as neither side was able to take control of the game.

Miguel Almiron scored his first Premier League goal as Newcastle United eventually overcame Crystal Palace. The visitors had plenty of chances and also enjoyed the majority of the possession, but the Paraguayan’s 83rd minute strike sealed the win for the Magpies.

A Danny Ings brace helped Southampton move out of the relegation zone and leapfrog Aston Villa. Jack Stevens also scored for Saints, while Jack Grealish’s spectacular long-range effort turned out to be a consolation goal.

Wolves came from behind to beat Norwich at Carrow Road. Todd Cantwell put the Canaries ahead on 17 minutes, but second-half strikes from Romain Saiss and Raul Jimenez turned the game around for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Oli McBurnie scored the only goal of the game as Sheff Utd extended their unbeaten away record in the Premier League by beating Brighton. The Blades saw just 31% of the ball, but managed to hold on the claim all three points.

Burnley left it very late to beat Bournemouth with the game’s only attempt on target coming in the 89th minute. Jay Rodriguez’s header proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Manchester City produced an excellent display to end Leicester’s unbeaten run. Jamie Vardy put the Foxes ahead, but goals from Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus moved City to within a point of Leicester in the standings.

Super Sunday

Two goals in the space of four second-half minutes handed Watford just their second league win of the campaign. Ismaila Sarr and Troy Deeney got on the scoresheet, while Manchester United failed to make the most of their chances.

A Willian double gifted Chelsea a well-deserved victory over London rivals Tottenham in the final game of the weekend. Son Heung-min was sent off just after the hour mark, but the damage had already been done.
