When Marcus Rashford suffered a fracture in his back against Wolverhampton Wanderers in an FA Cup third round reply on January 15, it was believed Manchester United’s season would collapse.
The decision on Tuesday the 17th of March made by UEFA will see the postponement of the 2020 European Championship. The tournament will now take place in the summer of 2021 following the completion of next season.
On Tuesday UEFA held a video conference meeting with the big wigs of the European game to decide many issues due to the endemic Coronavirus. Chief amongst them was what to do about Euro 2020 and the resumption of domestic leagues.
UEFA are due to meet on Tuesday the 17th of March as they try and decide what is going to happen with the remainder of the European football season. Europe has become the centre of the COVID-19 outbreak and all of the leading domestic leagues have been suspended.
Little did we know at the time but Leicester City’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Monday the 9th of March is going to be the last game played at least until the 4th of April. The decision was made to postpone the games between these two dates due to the spread of COVID-19 in the United Kingdom.
