For much of his football career, people have talked about Belgian international striker Romelu Lukaku as a player with the potential to do great things.

At Everton, he looked like a world-beater. A big-money move to Manchester United failed to see Lukaku push on.

Instead, the 26-year-old received major criticism from fans and media for his performances for the Red Devils. Apparently, he was not the sort of striker United fans were expecting him to be.

However, for all the criticism thrown his way, the striker still managed a respectable 28 goals in 66 Premier League appearances, many of them off the bench in the latter stages of his time in Manchester. His record was impressive considering he was playing in a mediocre United team.

A summer move was inevitable, as the big forward seemed disillusioned with life at United towards the end of last season. The move to Italian giants Inter has been just what he needed to revive his career.

Lukaku moved to a club whose head coach Antonio Conte was a known fan. The striker knew he would not endure being in and out of the Inter team, as he was a key component in Conte’s rebuilding job at the Giuseppe Meazza.

The move has turned out brilliantly for everybody, with the exception of former club Manchester United that is. Lukaku’s goals have been the power behind the Nerazzurri’s title bid.

The 26-year-old has scored 17 goals in Serie A, one of which was in a 4-2 win over AC Milan last time out in a massive local derby. So much for the theory that he does not deliver in big games.

No doubt Lukaku will continue scoring goals for Inter this season. The former Everton star once again looks hungry for success and seems determined to make his time in Milan productive.
