World Football is facing a difficult time, especially the European leagues.
As we already know, the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, French Ligue 1 and Dutch Eredivisie have all been suspended. While this is obviously very disappointing it doesn't mean that football has stopped completely and there are still several leagues around the world playing matches.
One of the most obvious examples can be found in Australia .The Australian A-League continues to play games all be it behind closed doors and there seems to be no sign that all of these matches are going to be stopped. Not every match is going to be played every week but there will be several games to enjoy most weekends unless the situation in Australia changes.
As things stand at the time of writing, Sydney FC are leading the way and they have two games in hand on the team below them which is Melbourne City FC. The Australian A-League is an exciting League to watch with games often producing plenty of goals. It is a good alternative for fans who are missing watching the leading European leagues.
Despite many of the top European leagues currently not playing a European based League has just started their new season. The new Belarusian Premier League has kicked off and not only are all the games scheduled to take place they will do so with fans inside the stadium. The season started on Thursday and fans watched on inside the stadiums as BATE lost 3-1 to Energetyk-Bgu and Torpedo Belaz defeated Shakhtyor 1-0.
Football Federation of Belarus (BFF) chairman Vladimir Bazanov said there is no reason to panic and it appears the Belarusian Premier League is going to continue as normal.
Moving out of Europe and there are several football leagues currently playing games. In the AFC (Asia) region there are many leagues which continue to run including the Bahrain Premier League, Cambodian League, Guam Soccer League, Indonesia Liga 1, Myanmar National League, Premier League Singapore and Thai League.
Moving to the CAF region, which is Africa, the Elite One League which is in Cameroon is still playing along with the Angola Girabola. There is currently no sign that either of these competitions are going to be suspended so the matches will continue to take place.
While this may be a less than ideal situation it is great that there are still football matches to follow around the world.
