Leicester looks to be keeping their nerve in title race

Most of the pre-season football predictions suggested that Leicester would be in the relegation battle this season. However, the Foxes keep on defying the odds in the Premier League title race as the side from the Midlands won 1-0 at Watford on Saturday to move five points clear at the top.

Their main title rivals Arsenal and Tottenham drew 2-2 at White Hart Lane in the Premier League early kick-off on Saturday, which was the ideal result for the Foxes. Weekend results put Leicester five points clear of second place Tottenham and eight clear of third-place Arsenal.

The Foxes also have arguably a comfortable run-in until the end of the campaign, so their lead and their run-in currently see Claudio Ranieri’s men as favourites for the title.

The likes of Riyad Mahrez, N’Golo Kante and Jamie Vardy have been fantastic for the Foxes, but the Foxes defence deserves a lot of praise for their title challenge, as well. Wes Morgan, Robert Huth, Danny Simpson and Christian Fuchs have for much of the season been superb.

The midweek 2-2 draw with West Brom seemed like the Foxes were losing their nerve. However, both Arsenal and Tottenham slipped-up, so it was a point gained, rather than two points lost in the end for Ranieri’s men.

For most of the campaign cynics have said that the Foxes will slip-up at some point, but time and time again they have proven their doubters wrong. A Premier League title victory would be celebrated by most neutrals and with every game that goes by the Foxes becoming champions looks more likely.
