Bayern Munich beat PSG 1-0 at Estadio da Luz on Sunday to clinch the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League, picking up their sixth major European honour in the process.

Needless to say, the German giants are the continent’s best team at the moment. But which players lead the way when it comes to the tournament’s statistics?

Let’s take a look at the 2019/29 UEFA Champions League in numbers.

  • Most Goals

Robert Lewandowski – Bayern Munich (15)

Remarkably, either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi has topped the Champions League goalscoring charts in each of the previous 12 seasons. But this year, it was Robert Lewandowski’s time to shine.

The lethal Polish striker netted an outstanding 55 goals in 47 games in all competitions in 2019/20, with 15 of those coming in just ten Champions League appearances.

Lewandowski scored in nine consecutive games in Europe’s premier club competition, bagging four in a single game against Red Star Belgrade, as well as scoring braces against Tottenham, Olympiacos and Chelsea.

  • Most Assists

Angel Di Maria – PSG (7)

Of course, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar grab most of the headlines for PSG. But Angel Di Maria often slips under the radar. However, it was difficult to ignore the Argentine this season.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United man racked up a hugely impressive seven Champions League assists in 2019/20, with four coming against Club Brugge on Matchday 4.

  • Most Clean Sheets

Manuel Neuer – Bayern Munich (6)

Many believed that Manuel Neuer was past his best earlier in the campaign, but the 34-year-old has proved his doubters wrong by guiding Bayern Munich to European glory.

The enigmatic goalkeeper kept six clean sheets in 11 Champions League appearances and played a pivotal role in helping the German side to secure their sixth continental triumph.

  • Most Passes

Thiago Alacantara – Bayern Munich (832)

Joshua Kimmich (745) and Virgil van Dijk (736) finished second and third respectively in this category, but they were nowhere Bayern’s Spanish midfielder Thiago Alacantara.

The 29-year-old failed to score in the Champions League and only managed to contribute two assists, but his passing in the middle of the park kept the team ticking over throughout the campaign.

  • Most Tackles Won

Thiago Alacantara – Bayern Munich (32)

If the rumours are true, Thiago looks set to join Premier League champions Liverpool. The Reds midfield is already strong, but the addition of Thiago is destined to elevate Jurgen Klopp’s side to another level.

No player made more successful tackles than the Spaniard in the 2019/20 Champions League, with Konrad Laimer (26) and Marco Verratti (24) his nearest challengers.

  • Youngest Player

Rayan Cherki – Lyon (16 years, 3 months, 10 days)

The future is certainly bright for Rayan Cherki. The Lyon youngster was the youngest player in the 2019/20 Champions League and also become the second youngest player in the tournament’s history.

In total, Cherki notched up just 32 minutes from two substitute appearance against Zenit and Bayern. However, it won’t be too long before we see the 16-year-old lighting up the European stage on a regular basis.

  • Oldest Player

Gianluigi Buffon – Juventus (41 years, 10 months, 13 days)

Will Buffon ever retire? The Juventus goalkeeper was the oldest player in the 2019/20 Champion League by some distance, while only fellow Italian shot-stopper Marco Ballotta (43 years, 8 months, 8 days) sits above him in the overall standings.

Still, Buffon is yet to win Europe’s top prize. The 42-year-old has ten Serie A titles and a World Cup winner’s medal to his name, but he is running out of time to win the Champions League.
