Done Deals: Top 10 Summer 2020 Transfers So Far

The summer 2020 transfer window is in full swing. Due to the pandemic, the window opened on July 27 and will close on October 5. There are still a few weeks to go, but there have already been a number of high-profile transfers across Europe.

Here are the top ten most lucrative deals that have already gone through in the 2020 summer transfer window.

It’s fair to say that Arthur’s Barcelona career never really got going. The Brazilian arrived at Camp Nou from Gremio in 2018 but only managed to notch up four goals and six assists in 72 appearances for the Spanish side. Perhaps he can reach his full potential with Juventus? Time will tell.

Osimhen started his career with Wolfsburg before joining Belgian club Charleroi. However, his remarkable debut season for Lille quickly earned him a move to Napoli. The Nigerian contributed 13 goals and five assists in Ligue 1 last term, and the 21-year-old now has the opportunity to light up Serie A.

After winning four Serie A titles with Juventus, Miralem Pjanic is on his way to Barcelona. The supremely talented midfielder was used as part of a swap-deal for Arthur, although it could be argued that Barcelona are getting the better side of the bargain.

Things just didn’t work out for Morata at Chelsea. The Spaniard joined the Blues from Real Madrid back in 2017, but he has now signed for Los Blancos’ rivals on a permanent deal. Morata bagged 22 goals across a two-year loan spell for Atletico Madrid, and Diego Simeone clearly values his relentless work-rate.

After racking up 28 goals and eight assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances last term, Chelsea are getting their hands on one of Europe’s deadliest forwards. Overall, Timo Werner scored 95 goals for Leipzig in 159 games. With stats like that, Werner is destined to take the Premier League by storm.

Having fallen out of favour at Inter Milan, Mauro Icardi was sent out on loan to PSG for the 2019/20 season. And the Argentine undoubtedly impressed (20 goals in 34 apps). The French giants already have the likes of Neymar and Mbappe in their ranks, but they have forked out a huge sum to sign Icardi.

The first defender on the list, Nathan Ake has been snapped up by Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola hoping that the Netherlands international can bolster his backline. Relegated Bournemouth received a massive fee for the 25-year-old. Can Ake and Laporte bring the Premier League trophy back to the Etihad?

It is no secret that the majority of Man City fans didn’t want to see Leroy Sane go. Sure, he has just returned from a length injury. But there is no denying that he is one of the most lethal wingers in the game. Bayern’s attacking options are already crazy, but Sane adds some strength in depth to squad.

Achraf Hakimi enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell with Borussia Dortmund last season, and many believed that he would join the German side on a permanent basis. However, Inter swept in to secure his services from Real Madrid. The 21-year-old is arguably one of the hottest wing-backs in European soccer.

Chelsea move early to secure the services of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax. The Moroccan has been posting ridiculous numbers over the past few seasons (21 goals and 24 assists in 49 games in 2018/19) and joins the Blues having notched up 21 assists in 2019/20.
