A move to Dortmund could be a pivotal one for Jude Bellingham’s career

German giants Dortmund have completed the £25million signing of Birmingham starlet Jude Bellingham. The 17-year-old is one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in the world game.

The youngster made his debut for Birmingham at 16 years of age and has made 40 league appearances for the club from the Midlands. Not only has he shown his technical ability with City, but is reported to be mature for his age.

That sort of maturity will serve him well in adapting to a new country and club, as Bellingham is already being touted as one of the best young players England have produced in a long time. However, he needs the right environment to fulfil his undoubted potential.

Dortmund is a proven testing ground for players to develop and fulfil their potential, especially young players. The latest diamond to be polished has been Bellingham’s compatriot Jadon Sancho. The 20-year-old joined BVB and has gone on to become a star of the European and world game.

The former-Manchester City winger has on numerous occasions been linked with big-money moves to City’s rivals Manchester United. In fact, according to Sky Sports, the youngster is the Red Devils main transfer target this summer.

Reportedly Manchester United were also keen on signing Bellingham this summer. Sancho’s success with BVB will no doubt have been a factor in the midfielder’s thinking when making the move to BVB, as the winger has shown there is a clear pathway to the first team at the German club.

Whether Bellingham starts with the first-team squad next season or Dortmund ll remains to be seen. However, judging by his progress so far it will not be long before he follows in Sancho’s footsteps in the BVB first team. It looks to be the right move for a highly-rated youngster.
