Liverpool in a league of their own this season

Liverpool in a league of their own this season
2194

On Thursday night Liverpool officially won their 19th English top-flight title. It was certainly not in the circumstances they would have hoped, with a Chelsea 2-1 victory over Manchester City sealing the title, but it still brought great joy to Liverpudlians.

They have waited three decades to win a top-flight title and they have certainly done it in style. Jurgen Klopp’s team have won the title with the most games remaining in the season and could still break the record for most points won in the Premier League campaign.

Even fierce rivals of other clubs would find it hard not to admit that the Reds have been in a league of their own this season. Klopp has created a winning-machine, that at times this season has played some brilliant football.

However, they have also developed the ability to ground out results when they have had to in games. This ability has been missing in previous editions of Liverpool teams in recent years.

Liverpool now seem to have the perfect mix of style of skill and hard work. The top players are not scared to work hard, which has been a key to the Reds success under Klopp. The pressing, the running further and harder than the opposition have been crucial to Liverpool’s title success.

When you look at the other teams in the English top-flight, it is difficult to see a team that could push the Merseysider’s for the crown next season. The obvious contenders seem to be former champions Manchester City.

However, Pep Guardiola’s team face a European ban that could persuade key players to leave and potential new signings to look elsewhere for a new club.

For now, everybody connected with Liverpool Football Club will enjoy the long-awaited title win. The signs are positive for the Reds that success is here to stay for the near future.
