James Rodriguez may not be the right signing for Everton

James Rodriguez may not be the right signing for Everton

The presence of iconic Italian head coach Carlo Ancelotti has lifted the profile of Everton. As always, the Toffees have already been linked with a string of high-profile signings in the next transfer window.

However, it seems that the sheer presence of Ancelotti at the club makes the club even more appealing to prospective signings.

One of the players linked with a big move is Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez. The Daily Mirror are reporting that he is a realistic signing for Everton.

No doubt he is a high-profile player. However, he has struggled for consistency at both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich during his current loan spell.

The German giants have an option to turn his deal into a permanent one in the next transfer window. However, the Bavarians seem to be set to decline the offer. That means he will return to the Spanish capital when his loan deal expires.

A move to the Premier League would no doubt interest the Colombian international, even if it is just for the wage package on offer in the English top-flight. Wolves have also been linked with a move for the playmaker.

However, reports from the Spanish media suggest that the Toffees are the favourites to sign James, due to his good relationship with the Everton head coach.

The 28-year-old may like the idea of a move to Merseyside. However, it is questionable if he would be the right signing for the Toffees. Everton have splashed out big in recent transfer windows in an attempt at strengthening their squad. However, few of the signings have worked out well.

A big-money move for an inconsistent performer like James Rodriguez would be another gamble in the transfer market for the Merseysider’s. If it did happen, then Evertonian’s would just have to trust Ancelotti to get the best out of the mercurial star, who needs to start shining soon before its too late.
