For the last few years, numerous Everton bosses have seemingly put their faith in young forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, much to the frustration at times of Toffees fans.

The frustration was due to the fact that the 22-year-old was a striker who struggled to score goals on a regular enough basis.

The youngster seemed to have all the attributes to become a very good striker in the Premier League. However, the killer instinct of a true striker seemed missing.

However, since the departure of Marco Silva as Everton boss, Calvert-Lewin seems to have found his scoring touch. The striker has now scored five times in his last five top-flight appearances for the Toffees, including braces against Chelsea and last time out against Newcastle.

Adding goals to his promising all-around game has certainly changed the views of many about the forward. Some have attributed the striker’s recent improvement in front of goal to working with Everton hero Duncan Ferguson in a closer manner.

The striker has talked about their close relationship in the past. The Scot’s more prominent role at the club in recent weeks may just have helped Calvert-Lewin to find his goalscoring feet.

Maybe the reason for his improvement is regular first-team football and that he is starting to mature as a player. It is easy to forget that Calvert-Lewin is still only 22 years of age.

The biggest factor in his improving goal output may just be that he has been playing with a striker partner in recent games, whether that be Richarlison or Moise Kean. The youngster finally has some attacking support.

Whatever the reason for his improvement, Calvert-Lewin adding goals to his game means that he has the potential to become a top Premier League striker in the near future.
